This training is for business professionals who wish to sharpen their skills and strategies to address structural racism and advance racial equity in their workplace culture.

Systemic racism can be challenged by American businesses. Indeed, many U.S. corporate boardrooms have already begun the challenge through hiring practices, funding organizations and movements working to eradicate racism.

What steps can employers begin doing today to enhance their workplace culture to racial equity and belonging? Discussing white privilege and unconscious bias is a starting tactic.

This course is a chance for leaders and business professionals in general to create a business strategy to actively and strategically address racial inequity in their workplace culture.

Outline

Module One - What is the meaning of racial equity?

  • Module 1 of Racial Equity in the Workplace Training will explore that question, and will unpack the relationship between historical events, institutional frameworks, the ideology of white supremacy, and how those things come together to construct the social norms, stereotypes, and bias which inform our perception and behavior.

Module 2 - Reflect: Racial Equity in the Workplace

  • Identity, personal bias, white privilege, colorism, and prejudice. These are concepts that are not easy to talk about, and often bring up strong feelings, including anger, guilt, and denial. In Module 2 of Racial Equity in the Workplace Training, we are going to unpack them, reflect on how they impact you, and give you the tools to start making changes.

Module 3 - Evolve: Racial Equity in the Workplace

  • Becoming committed to racial justice is a big step, and it is not a one-time decision. Being an ally means making decisions every day about whether you will stand up or stay silent.
  • In Module 3 of Racial Equity in the Workplace Training, we will discuss how to be an ally, tone policing, emotional labor, and how to have difficult conversations with your team members.
