Ansible in Practice is designed for learners who want to extend their existing Linux and system administration skills into practical infrastructure automation using Ansible, one of the widely adopted configuration management tools in modern DevOps environments.
The programme follows a staged learning approach that combines foundational theory with practical application. During the initial discovery phase, learners work through self-paced online resources covering the prerequisite knowledge required for Ansible. This includes Linux command-line fundamentals, YAML, and an introduction to practical Ansible usage.
The learning then progresses into a two-day live, instructor-led workshop focused on Ansible's essential building blocks. Participants learn how to create playbooks, manage inventory files, introduce variables, structure configurations with roles, and work with AWX as a web-based interface for Ansible automation. AWX credentials and job execution are also covered as part of the practical workshop.
The final stage focuses on transferring these skills into the workplace. Learners receive a set of acceptance criteria that can be used to develop a workplace-focused Ansible configuration project. The completed work is then reviewed and showcased with a technical Ansible expert, providing an opportunity for practical feedback.
By completing the course, learners will have experience configuring infrastructure through Ansible scripts and automation workflows, providing a practical foundation for applying Ansible within real working environments.
