This training provides the basic technical foundation, covering the essential topics to successfully deploy and manage virtual machines and containers in your data center, using the server virtualization management platform Proxmox VE.


This training is aimed at system engineers/administrators and IT professionals interested in understanding the fundamental concepts, architecture and functionality of the Proxmox VE platform.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to build and administer a single node Proxmox VE.


The training course consist of both theory and lab exercises to give participants a deep understanding, in addition to hands-on experience. Several modules and practical lab exercises will cover deployment, setup, and configuration:

  1. Overview about Proxmox VE
  2. Concepts / architecture / technology of a single node setup
  3. Hardware requirements for the single node setup
  4. Installation and software update management
  5. Introduction to web-based management (GUI)
  6. Network model
  7. Storage model - local and shared storage
  8. Basic authentication and user management
  9. KVM: create and manage virtual machines (Windows & Linux)
  10. LXC: create and manage containers (Linux only)
  11. Manage VM/CT startup and shutdown behavior
  12. Backup and restore, scheduling
  13. Proxmox VE Firewall
  14. Guest deployment
  15. Troubleshooting (for single node setups)
  16. Establishing a baseline for node performance (networking)
  17. Hands-on labs
