This learning product will provide learners with the theoretical and practical skills and knowledge needed to take a learner’s system administration and Linux skills and apply it to one of the leading configuration management tools in the industry today; Ansible.

Learners will develop the foundational pre-requisite knowledge needed to work with Ansible through online self-paced videos. This includes resources that consult the basics of Linux and YAML, as well as an introduction to the practical usage of Ansible.

Following the discovery phase, learners will attend a live learning workshop. This instructor-led training will focus on the key features of Ansible; playbooks, variables, roles and how to use an Ansible web API in AWX.

Learners will then be given a set of acceptance criteria which can be used for a workplace-focused project. A full review and showcase between a learner and technical Ansible expert will be facilitated for feedback.

The course begins with an overview of Ansible and its usage within DevOps, followed by a discussion around how we can write playbooks to configure nodes. The course then takes this foundational knowledge and adds more detail in how to write playbooks by adding variables and roles to your configurations. Finally, configuration and usage of AWX – an open-source Ansible web UI – is discussed to provide an alternative to command-line Ansible

By the end of the course, learners will have configured infrastructure through Ansible scripts, which provides a foundation to apply these skills into the workplace.
