This three-day course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills to implement, configure and manage Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Hyper-V. It also teaches you how to manage Hyper-V with System Center Virtual Machine Manager. Additionally, this course provides an overview of implementing and managing Containers using CLI, PowerShell and Windows Admin Centre.
This course is intended to help provide pre-requisite skills for Administrators who manage and implement Server Virtualisation technologies within their network.
Audience
This course is intended for IT Professionals already experienced in general Windows Server and Windows Client administration. No prior experience of virtualisation is assumed. This course will help them update their knowledge and skills of virtualisation using Hyper-V related to Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022.
Candidates suitable for this course would be:
Windows Server administrators who are relatively new to Windows Server administration and related technologies, and who want to learn more about the Hyper-V Role and Container services in Windows Server 2022.
IT professionals who have skills in other areas, such as general system administration, who are looking for knowledge and skills for career development in virtualisation.
Before attending this course, students must have:
Additionally, students would benefit from having some previous experience of Windows PowerShell.
After completing this course, students will have an understanding of the virtualisation role in Server 2022 in the following areas:
Module 1, “Installing and configuring Hyper-V and virtual machines,” provides an overview of Hyper-V and virtualisation. It explains how to install Hyper-V, and how to configure storage and networking on Hyper-V host servers. Additionally, it explains how to configure and manage Hyper-V virtual machines. It further explains how to plan high availability and disaster recovery solutions with Hyper-V virtual machines using Hyper-V Replica.
Module 2, “Virtual Machine Manager' introduces System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) and shows how it can be used to manage Hyper-V servers throughout an enterprise. It also describes how to add virtualisation hosts to VMM, and manage virtualisation hosts and host groups.
Module 3, “VMM Storage and Networking' describes VMM networking options, and how to manage storage infrastructure in VMM.
Module 4, “Library, Objects and VMs” describes how to use and manage the VMM library, and how to configure library settings. It also explains how to use profiles and templates in VMM.
