In today’s increasingly connected world, it is more important than ever to understand and adapt to changes in users’ behaviours, environments and needs. Agile approaches help teams focus on working at pace and focusing on quality, but to ensure we build the right things requires a discovery mind-set. QA’s Design Thinking Workshop fulfils this gap and aims to help professionals across industry to develop and refine the skills needed to emphasise, understand and respond to the complex relationship between end users and products or services.

This two-day immersive learning experience blends group activity with discussion to explore the creative process of Design Thinking enabling a practical grasp of the mind-set, methodology and principles.

During the event, learners will explore sector-specific case studies that highlight the do's and don'ts of service design and product development when using Design Thinking.

The workshop will equip learners with the fundamental skills required to apply Design Thinking in their own working environment.

There are no specific pre-requisites for this course.

This workshop is suitable for anyone new to Design Thinking, or anyone wishing to develop a practical understanding of Design Thinking Principles.

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Understand and explain Design Thinking and its benefits to peers and stakeholders
  • Apply Design Thinking techniques to support the innovation of products/services
  • Demonstrate a Design Thinking mindset in approaching tasks that require “out the box thinking”
  • Use Design Thinking as a means to solve complex problems
  • Use Design Thinking as a tool to creatively improve products/processes

This two-day workshop begins with a step-by-step walk through introduction to Design Thinking, covering the key aspects of the methodology, as well as the design principles that are promoted.

As the session progresses Learners will work through the five steps of Design Thinking:

  1. Empathise
  2. Define
  3. Ideate
  4. Prototype
  5. Test

At each step, learners will apply techniques learned to the underpinning case study, working through the different phases of the Design Thinking double diamond while developing practical skills to take back to the workplace.

This learning experience offers a deep insight into the concept of Design Thinking with further support given to delegates on how to facilitate the 5 steps of Design Thinking.
